I am getting an "Error performing inpage operation" error on Windows NT ...
Reading small files from an XFS can result in this Windows NT error when a file has to be read from backing store (CD/DVD media) and the standard (network read) timeout expires. This can happen if the system is very busy and discs need to be swapped in and out of drives. Normally the next attempt to read the file succeeds, since the file will have been loaded into the cache by then.To avoid this error to happen, some timeout settings on both the Windows client and the DAXfs SMB service need to changed. Please refer to the DAXfs User Manual for more detailed information.

I am getting a "Cannot copy : The disk is full" error on Windows NT ...
This error indicates that the cache of your file system is full and needs to be purged or flushed. You might need to add blank discs to your XFS.

I am frequently getting "NFS server not responding" errors on our Solaris server...
Reading small files from an XFS can result in this NFS error when a file has to be read from backing store (CD/DVD media) and the standard (NFS read) timeout expires. This can happen if the system is very busy and discs need to be swapped in and out of drives. The system will continue to try to read the file and this message will normally be followed by a "NFS server ok" message. This is normal NFS behaviour and does not necessarily indicate problems. If these messages are persistant, and the system stops to respond properly, action may be required.

When I access the mounted XFS with my FileManager (Solaris), Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) the system is very slow and disks are continously loaded. Why?
This is common behaviour if applications like FileManagers, Windows Explorer and the Mac Finder is used when accessing the XFS filesystem. These types of applications will attempt to read all the files in each folder in order to determine the filetype and try to display some icon information that is included in the file. This obviously results in heavy disk swapping because all files in the folder have to be retrieved from the media. This is known as "disk thrashing". In general these types of applications are not the most optimal applications to access the XFS.
